Great Pyrenees

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS DOG!!!

During my trip to Korea, saw this HUGE dog when we stopped at a restaurant for breakfast. From far,it already looks big so you can imagine when we got near. The biggest dog i have seen is a St. Bernard and this is way bigger than that. For a dog that size, one would think that it will be inactive and slow but it turned out the total opposite. It started getting excited when we went nearer and running around its enclosure.

I wish to have one as my pet in the future.Unfortunately,it is not available in Malaysia.Guess i will have to import it which also means more $$$ is needed.Got to save up for this =)

I have a Great Pyrenees, as well. As mine is a female, she isn't quite as massive as some of the dogs in these images, but still a very large animal. From my experience, they are WONDERFUL dogs and make excellent companions. They are extremely intelligent and (from my experience) very sweet animals. However, if you are considering adopting one, there are a few things you need to be aware of. First of all, they are known for being stubborn. It's difficult to move a dog of that size when he/she doesn't want to go somewhere. Many Pyrenees are also prone to carsickness, so it can be a challenge to get them to the vet or groomer's. They require frequent brushing, and still shed alot--especially when they "blow their coats" twice a year. And lastly, you really need quite a bit of room for them to run, so this may not be the ideal dog if you live in an apartment. Please don't think I'm trying to discourage you from adopting a Pyr, but I always think it's good to learn everything you can beforehand. Sadly, many Pyrs end up in shelters (and in some cases, are euthanized) because people who adopt them find they're unable to care for them. However, if you're up to the challenge, Pyrs are truly magnificent animals and they make wonderful pets.

I adopted my Great Pyrenees last November. He is a wonderful, gentle giant. My 2 sons aged 4 years and 10 years hug on him and play with him all the time. While you do need place to walk the dog for exercise, they do not need much in the way of home space. If you want a sweet souled pet, you cannot get any better. AS a matter of fact, I recently tested with my Chowder and we became a pet therapy team. We will start soon going to hospitals and nursing homes and prisons to give pet therapy.
