21st birthday

Last Friday,i celebrated my 21st birthday.

I received birthday wishes since 12 midnight and there was also a birthday call from NSW.Was so happy that quite a lot remembered my birthday..Thank you.Appreciate them a lot... =)

Then the morning, there was lecture..and i had to sit for a short quiz which was also like a test.I did okay but halfway through the lecture,i did not feel well..lack of sleep the night before and also hungry i think.

During lecture,i received sms from mummy saying that they are coming down to pick us up which also means no travelling by bus.YIPPIE!

When they arrived, mummy asked me to suggest a place to go and eat since it was my day..so i suggested korean food at Gurney Plaza...Parents and sister haven't eaten there before and i thought that it would be fun..but then papa didn't agree cause it was late and he was afraid that we would be stuck in the traffic jam later..so we went to Butterworth to find food.
Butterworth...no luck.Shop was already cleaning up.So..continued our journey back home.
But our tummies couldn't wait any longer. It was almost 5pm.So we stopped at Sungai Petani to have our lunch at....Chennai Curry House..i think that is what it's called. The food was...okay only. Not that GREAT..
Home sweet home....Mummy was halfway trying to get my present wrapped up when i came along and the look on her face... "Mummy, you need more practise on surprising people =)"..Anyway,without the wrapper, the gift was already BEAUTIFUL...My first jewellery from my parents..That is a key-shaped pendant..Why key?Well,21 is suppose to be the age where parents give their child the freedom to their lilfe..It means something like that...
Dinner...was Japanese food at Kaede.Food was wonderful and we had fun ordering and trying new food.
After that, was the birthday cake...Brother chose that one..Thanks bro for choosing such a lovely cake and also for not attending MYF on my birthday.Very thoughtful and appreciate it SO MUCH...but...i am still waiting for my present.HAHA!
That was about all about my 21st birthday.Didn't make a big party or anything cause...i think the way it went...spent with my family is more memorable.

The day

I wanted to blog it earlier but it was very difficult to upload the photos so decided to do it today.

Well...the morning went quite fine except for the little rain here and there.

Woke up at 7...delayed until almost 7.30am before got ready. Then went straight to Wisma Negeri. The roads looked fine and mot much of a crowd. The float that the Sultan will be sitting was the centre of attraction to some photographers.

As i was walking towards the field beside the Wisma...there was were the crowd was. Most of them were busy with the elephants (See how pretty and RED they are compared to before) OH YA...when i was about to take photos with the elephants with some family friends, one of the man in black asked us to go closer...and since i haven't touch an elephant before,i asked if i could...and not only did i manage to touch but i FED it as well...SO FUN!

There were school bands...Asma,Keat Hwa and KSAH.I thought there would be more especially from the police force but unfortunately...

The horses arrived a little later and they certainly looked smart...don't they?

The procession was a little too quiet and a little too short...but besides that it was okay. After it ended,we walked back to Wisma and saw some kids playing with the newly-installed fountain.Managed to take a few photos before it rained..sending everyone running back to their cars.

What happened to the procession after that...i couldn't go though i wanted to badly.I had to return home and get ready to go to Penang to attend my lecture...SIGH SIGH SIGH

The night before

After supper...decided to drive around town with family to take some photos.

This is the float that the Sultan is going to be on the day.

This is the building where the ceremony of 'crowning' the Sultan is held.

This is the state mosque.

This is built especially for this Sultan for his Golden Jubilee.

This is the first time such celebration is happening and people were generally excited about it until the extend of driving out late at night to see all these.I got home around 12.30am and went straight to bed because got to get up early the next morning for THE DAY.

The day before

Tomorrow..15th of July 2008..the Sultan of Kedah is celebrating his Golden Jubilee..which also means he has been the Sultan for 50 years. So,there is a big celebration and public holiday for everyone.

These are some of the photos taken today while i was out in town...

This was the reason i was running in town this morning.I wanted to catch a glimpse of the elephants and the horses before the real event cause it will definitely be crowded. So,mummy drove my sister and me somewhere near the practising procession, drop us down and then we started the chase to reach the elephants (they were far ahead). It took us quite awhile to reach as they were all walking.

So....conclusion...since the state spent a lot of money on this event (i think so),then everyone should go and watch it as it is a once in a lifetime experience (i think so again).

Will take more photos and tell you all about it tomorrow...

College

Life in college compared to university is so much different.

First of all is the place i am staying. In university,i had to stay in the college (hostel) so the condition is..you can imagine..after how many years it was built and all the monkeys. Now,staying with my relatives who has a maid and the room air-conditioned with a small tv..nothing for me to complain about.Even though with all those luxuries,i still do my things by myself such as laundry.

Secondly..the life in college. The most obvious thing is...everything is about money. As long as the fees are not paid, the textbooks won't be ordered. So,we the lecturers have to prepare notes or powerpoint to teach. Then, there is the walking..The college is so small,it takes just a few minutes to get to wherever you want. Not like in university..wrong building and you will most probably be late.

Thirdly...the lectures. There is only 5 students in the class.Imagine! The 5 including my sister and me.So,the number of friends that i have...THREE.In university, the number of friends that one can make....gosh.....from the same course itself is more than what i have now.

So...life in college is way,way different than in university and i think no matter how, college life and university can never be the same.

Back studying

I am in Penang now.Suppose to be in KL but because i quit so here i am in Penang starting my study life again.

I am familiar with Penang but not when it comes to driving.Gosh...one needs to have the 'talent' to overtake cars.It seems to overtake if you put signal they will purposely drive faster and not let you in.And the roads...so confusing. The trees and buildings look almost alike. So did i get lost?Of course..but then was lucky cause a few turns and then i got back to the right road.

Today, had orientation. It is SO NOT LIKE the ones in university. Those in the university are tiring and can say fun also. This one is so boring but luckily it was for a few hours only.Tomorrow class will start. The timetable...i seem to be VERY FREE compared to the time when i was in university.I now have 3 classes and 3 tutorials only.

Another thing....imagine i have to study SEJARAH and MORAL again?Luckily i passed my BM so that was exempted.but....still.....studying sejarah......and moral.......sigh.......(Aunty A,can i tumpang your class with the boys?)

After the orientation, drove back home.Now...don't know what to do.Feel like going out to explore but then scared 'sesat'.So,going to obediently stay at home till my cousin is back from work.
