Dinner + snooker

Yesterday, went out with Cikgu and bro for dinner at Georgetown Coffee House (AS mall).First time trying out the food there.Bro ordered the rice with rendang chicken (is that what it was called?either rendang chicken or rendang rice..forgot as there was an arguement on what it should be).According to bro,the chicken was really tender and soft but the gravy was a little sweet.Cikgu and me ordered the Penang char kuey teow.I think why it was names after the one in Penang is because there was 3 quite big prawns.Penang is known for that i think cos only in there,i find the prawns.Other places usually they are smaller or there is none. From the photo in the menu,it looks so spicy so i decided to get the normal one while Cikgu ordered more pedas. There was a difference in the colour but i am not sure if it was THAT spicy as it looks. So,for those pedas lovers..make sure you write on the remarks column..'double extra pedas'.Didn't try the coffee cos was not in the mood for it.Will try it the next time i go..

Then,it was to the cinema.Wanted to watch G-Force but then there was only the first row left.Decided not to torture our necks.

When we were parking the car,saw that AS mall has snooker. So,bro suggested we give that a try.None of us know how to play..don't even know how to place the balls.Well, there must always be a first time to everything right?So..there we were, the three of us,trying our hardest to hit the balls into the pocket (is that what you call it?).Bro was the first to hit it in,followed by Cikgu and FINALLY me.But,after getting used to playing,i managed to hit more but using the 'X' stick (the two of them were jealous and keeps making fun of me and my 'X' stick). Not sure who got the most balls into the pocket but it was surely fun.We were laughing nonstop especially when we were aiming so properly and ended up not hitting the ball at alll.I definitely enjoyed myself.Hope bro and Cikgu did too..

Then,it was back home...

1 Malaysia

'1 Malaysia'...is the hot topic in Malaysia right now.Everyone is talking about it and waiting to see the changes.

It is said that there will not be any differences among the races in Malaysia. That means,no more being seen as a Malay,Indian or Chinese. We are now,1 Malaysia. Therefore, there will not be a column requiring people to state their religion and race in forms. That is the main change from '1 Malaysia'.

Just a few days ago,i was on my way to Queensbay and saw this.

It is written 'Bumiputra release units'.. (if i am not mistaken)

I was wondering...how will '1 Malaysia' be implemented on matters like this and the compulsory percentage of Malays in a company?Because we are now one, will this still happen?

Guess i have to wait to find out...

Dinner by me

Forgot when it was..Mum wanted to prepare porridge for dinner and i don't like it.I only eat it plain with dishes or when i am not feeling well.

So..mum asked me to cook dinner since i complained.I was quite game into trying as it has been awhile since i tried cooking.I always tell the maid in Penang how to cook but never did it cos she doesn't let me.

Tadaa.....!Dinner is served...

Fried meat with egg, ginger and sesame oil.

Boiled vege with fried garlic.

Grilled fish with...i don't know what. This one mum helped with the seasoning. My job was to grill it.

How do they look?Okay?Pass for someone who has not prepared dinner before?Mum thinks it was quite okay and even asked to cook the next day =)

Kennyaik

Third salon i went in a row..

Kennyaik. It is located in front of ASRC or opposite Spring Leaf. Not much of a hassle getting a car park if it is before 5pm (because people will usually go to play badminton after working hours). From the outside, the salon looks okay, not over high-class.The inside is very simple. There are around 6 seats,2 places to wash your hair and NO waiting place.Yes..no sofas to sit while waiting. That is one of its cons.

There are 2 guys working, one is the director and another is the junior. So,if there are more than 2 people there, means you will have to wait at least 30 minutes before it is your turn.If you don't mind waiting, then you can go to this place.

The 2 guys...hm..let me try to describe them to you.The director..the first thing i noticed about him is his tattoos,he has them on his back and also his legs. So,with tattoos, obviously don't expect his hair to be the 'guai' looking type. His hair is short at the back while the top is long until he can tie into a ponytail.Even though the looks is quite intimidating,he is actually friendly and nice.He listens to what you want and cuts accordingly. He doesn't recommend his products or services except when you ask him to.He can give quite good ideas about how to cut your hair and he definitely has a lot of skills in cutting, uses the methods that i have not seen before. On the other hand, his junior..almost the same hairstyle as him but without the tattoos.I am not sure if he is that friendly cos didn't talk to him.

Finally..the price for the services. For a haircut under the director,it is RM39.I feel it is a little expensive but my friends who are back from KL thinks it is okay. They thinks that the price you pay for the skills he has is worth it.So,it is up to individual to decide whether it is or not.

I will rate this place 3 out of 5.It is because there is no waiting place and also because i feel the price is a little too high.

*I will let you know the business hours after i asked..Forgot to do that when i went.

Posh

Yesterday, sis and me went for haircut.Today,it is A.Amelia's turn.Because i am now into blogging about places to go for haircut, she was kind enough to try a new place so that i can have a blog material.

After the usual breakfast, sending Alyssa and fetching the boys,we decided to go on our little adventure, salon shopping.

At first we thought of going to DZE but don't know why we ended up at this place called Posh. After the bridge at Pekan Cina, turn left at the traffic light. It is located somewhere in there (I will try to get the precise location the next time i go).

This salon has been in operation for 2 years (Imagine,I didn't know it existed until yesterday when i saw the small sign board).Their business hours are from 11am-8pm,everyday except Monday. The place looks new, modern and quite professional. The atmosphere inside is nice, not too crowded and intimidating..comfortable and relaxing.

So,i assumed for a place like that, the price will be around RM30 or more for a haircut. But when i went in and checked out the price list for the services they provided,it is actually very reasonable (maybe cheap too). For a cut and wash under the director,it was only RM25 (compare that to what i had yesterday *regretting*).A.Amelia said the wash is one of the best she had and the hairdresser took her time to snip. Not that she takes a VERY LONG time, just long enough for you to feel that your $$$ is worth it.

The people there are friendly too. Some salons especially with young hairdressers, they tend to be a little proud but this place, they are generally okay.Besides that, they also talk when necessary only. What do i mean by necessary...They will ask what you want and maybe suggest some styles for you but they don't really promote their services that much.I dislike it when all they talk about the entire time is 'you should do this','you should buy that' or 'your hair looks dry and this and that..i think you need this treatment and that'.It is okay to promote a little but not the entire time when you are doing or when you have said that you don't want it.So,this is another plus point for Posh. They talk when they need to,do not promote their products and services but at the same time, they are still nice.

Other than that, what i like about this place is that there is not much waiting. There are 5 seats and 5 hairdressers (2 directors and 3 stylist) and that means when you are seated, you are sure to be served in awhile.Comparing that to many salons nowadays where they have 8 seats and only 3 hairdressers.Having a seat doesn't mean you will be served in a short while.Sometimes you might even have to wait for an hour or more. So,this place is good in a way that there is not much waiting when you are already seated.

Finally, they serve you drinks if you choose the director. It is just something different from what the normal salons in AS would do.So,if you are one who is always thirsty when you go to a salon, then this is the place to go =)

So....i will rate this place 4/5 just from wathching.I will rate it again when i have a haircut.

A&J

Three months since i last had a haircut.Usually i will go after a month or two cos my hair becomes flat very fast. But,then seems like it is TOO frequent. And that is why i ended up with 3 months this time.

Where did i go this time for a haircut...Wanted to try DZE but had to wait for an hour and i have dance class at 6.30pm so decided to go to another place.

SO....Finally,went to A&J at Taman Badlishah.Bro went there once and the outcome was quite okay for the price. That is why i decided to give it a try there. The salon looks okay, not as nice as Line1 or Jimmy&Guys though. There was no one when sis and me went.Sis went first and then me.The guy paid a lot of attention to what we wanted, the length especially. After getting the length right, usually they will layer and snip a lot to get the shape and all.BUT this guy didn't do much. What i noticed about mine was that..he took the fringe and cut to the length. Then, the rest into 4 sections and cut that to the length. And the back again into sections and cut a little. And then..WA LA.Done! It took...the most 10 minutes.

IMAGINE!TEN MINUTES to cut a girl's hair.Usually it will take at least,minimum..30 minutes. The haircut was okay..but then i didn't like paying RM25 for less than 10 times he used the comb and taking so fast to finish it.As though he had not done anything and feels like i can ask my mum to give me that cut.

For those who wants a really quick haircut and doesn't mind the price..then this is the place to go.He follows exactly the length you want him to cut (unlike Line1).So..it is okay for me,but i would want someone who spends a little more time on my hair for that price.

No updates

There has not been any updates about my dance lately because i didn't attend my class. Not because i didn't want to attend but because i was stuck in Penang and had to miss them.I am actually SO looking forward to going this week.

I had my Moral exam on Friday..so had to stay back in Penang from Wednesday until Friday.I can't be driving back to AS just for my dance. It will be too much especially on my parents' pocket as i am now driving back EVERY WEEK.So,that was the best solution.

The other day, when i was out wth my friends, the dance uncle called. He is really so sweet. He asked me how i was with my dancing and the hip movement, whether i was improving, learning new steps..and also wished me good luck in dancing (I need a lot of luck especially in learning those tough moves).I was so touched..It is not always that people remember you like that.I wished him all the best in the surgery he is going to undergo and hope that he will recover fast so that he can come dancing with me again.

He underwent his surgery last Friday.Hope that everything is fine.Do you think it is okay for me to give him a call now?Or wait for awhile more, let him rest?Hm....

A day around Penang with friends

This is the first week (i think) i am in Penang on Sunday. And it so happens that,Esther,Erny and OKC are free. So,they decided to come down to jalan-jalan.

I had to leave around 10.30am to fetch them from the jetty. It took me some time even though there is the new expressway because I didn't know how to get to that.Ended up going through town which was not that jammed but there were a lot of traffic lights.Luckily,i reached just in time.

After picking them up,went to Tanjung Bungah because Esther wanted to collect some shells. The weather was not that sunny,so thought that it would be better to go there first. The beach was quite okay.Only a few people were there.So..walked,collected shells and took photos.Everything was so nice until we got sand stuck to our slippers and the unexpected wave that made OKC and Esther wet.Took us some time to clean up after the walk.

Around 12pm,we went for lunch at New World Park.Ice kacang, fruit juices, pei tee,loh bak, fried kuey teow and fried belacan rice and fruits..

Next stop was the temple.Erny said she wanted to go so we did a quick stop there. She and OKC went to pray while Esther and me walked a little round and then sat in the car to sembang.

Then,it was to the Botanical Garden.Admission is free but the ride on the tram was not.RM2 for adult and RM1 for kid..which is quite reasonable i think.Walked around for awhile, took some photos and then took the ride to get an overall view of the garden. The tram was really, very slow.Anyone can walk faster than it.

It was around 2pm when we came out of that place.Everyone was a little tired. What is the second best thing to do besides sleeping for girls?So..there we were at Queensbay.Shop after shop we went in.Ranking of who spent the most: Esther,Erny,me,OKC..

Finally,makan place..Fruit juice,longan drink,fried kuey teow,laksa,hokkien mee,egg tart.

After eating, sent them to the jetty to take a bus from Butterworth while i headed back to aunt's house.

I was SO TIRED and i am sure they were too.Everyone should have no problem going to sleep yesterday cos i surely didn't have it.I was out before I realised it.

*Hope that you guys enjoyed yourselves..cos i surely did.It is fun to do something different sometimes.See you guys in AS during Raya..*
