Yellow fish tank

Recently,my a few of my fishes are losing their tail and fins.I thought it was because the barb that i have.That is suppose to be a fierce one.So been feeding more thinking that it might be hungry.Then today went out to family friend's house and noticed that hers was also having the same problem.But she didn't have any barb or fierce fish.Finally.....decided to go to the fish shop at 9.30pm and the person sold me this yellow powder.That's how my tank turn yellow.Looks as though i have not been taking care of it.Sigh...

Stress

By Megan Gough

Some people think that stress is bad;
Something that makes you crazy and mad;
I look at a different way;
And for that I am who I am today.

Instead of letting it all build up;
Just look at someone and yell "shut up!"
instead of getting all red in the face;
just be brave and put someone in thier place.

Instead of letting the tears pour down;
instead of you, make someone else frown.
why get all wound up and uptight;
just pick someone and start a fight.

Just knock their smile right off their face;
tell them they are a big disgrace.
And if they ask you if you are stressed;
tell them "no, I'm feeling my best."

Because you are not stressed at all;
You know how to cope after all.
The trick is to know that it is never your fault;
The world is against you and that is all!

Think of this and you will smile;
And you will feel better after a while
I wake up everyday and say
life is great...stress...no way!!

Sports Day

THE day finally came.Woke up earlier than usual..not because excited or nervous but because had to go and help to prepare pizza and sushi and also arrange the things.I didn't help out much with the food cause there were too many doing it.So,i followed one of the teachers outside to help with the stuff needed for the games.We joked and had a really good time.

Every Sports Day,teachers will have to play at least two games.But we will not know until the day.So,we...the SMART teachers will look for hint.The year before we suddenly saw lots of fruits on the table in the kitchen so we knew that it will be an eating game.This year...we were looking so hard.We knew the title got something to do with water and insects.Finding and trying to hear for the sound of them but nothing.Suddenly..while i was outside preparing the stuff with one of the teachers...she shouted 'FISH,FISH,FISH'.We thought they were just paper fishes used for the children's game.Unfortunately...they were ALIVE.Why unfortunately?Not because i hate fish.I like them just that when we are suppose to play a game with them..doesn't sound that good.I am hopeless at catching them with hands and i can't eat them alive also.So...i was pretty worried.

Then the events started...The teachers as usual...will be the ones screaming and shouting and cheering at the top of their voices.Why?Teachers are what you call..'kia su'..scared to lose.But the kids were okay overall.Some that didn't do well during practises actually did it better than the ones that did well before.That is why they are unpredictable.

After the children's game....was the our turn,the teachers.The first one was fine.We had to place toy insects on one of the teacher from our group.The group with the most wins.We got second for that because one of our insect dropped.If it didn't then it would be a tie.The second game was the one with the LIVE FISH.I knew we had to catch them and there was no net nearby.So my heart was beating quite fast.Then,the boss came with cloths and i was so so so GLAD.Using cloth was definitely better than hands though some teachers prefer it the other way.We came first for this game.We had 9 fishes.

After all the events,marks were totalled up and my group won.The prizes were given and then everyone had ice-cream to cool down.That was really good and everyone enjoyed it.

So that was how a Sports Day would be in a nursery...Can be enjoyable but the preparations before are really tiring and stressful.Worth all that for a fun day with the kids =)

The day before Sports Day

Tomorrow is Sports Day..for the nursery i am working in.Sounds like lots of fun right?It is a little but the stressful part is more.Why?Because we have to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible.And it is pretty impossible to be certain cause we are handling with kids.Not kids like the ones in school.These kids have been practising and from my experience,the best one can suddenly be the worst on that day.And we,teachers are divided into different houses..just like the kids.So you can imagine the competitiveness..not from the kids but the teachers.We will be the ones shouting and at the end of the day..the ones that are without voice as well.

Teachers also have their games.I have played...transferring water in a pipe and eating fruits as fast as possible.This years team is mostly about the nature..and we found out that the teachers' game have something to do with INSECTS..So now i am praying very hard that it won't be like Fear Factor where we have to eat insects.Keeping fingers crossed....

Will update on how the Sports Day is tomorrow.As for now...i think it is best that i have my 'stress-less' sleep...

Goodnight......

Fish dying

I just bought five fishes yesterday.One died the very day itself while two more of died today.The two that died today i had them for quite some time.

Why are they dying?Water?Oxygen?Plants?Or is it a fish dying season?Because they were all okay before this.Suddenly so many...

Sad sad....

My shoes

I have mentioned my interest for Latin dance right?And all these while i have been learning without shoes.And today FINALLY i bought them =) I wanted to get them a long time ago but then the instructor wanted to sell through order.Didn't like the way of purchasing cause it is difficult to know if it fits you and whether they will look nice.So ended up i didn't get until today.There was time left after registering at the college and mummy also know that i have been wanting it for quite some time,so they brought me to the shop.There weren't much choices but then for a beginner...i don't need a pair that is SO PERFECT.

So...i bought this.....

Agave

I was watching tv this morning,a programme called 'Man vs wild'.And this plant,Agave caught my attention.Why?Because it provides a natural needle and thread.Well not exactly like the needle and thread we use but then it is just as good and lasting..and..the good thing is you don't have to thread the needle.

Bite the pointed end out and you will get the needle.Then when you pull it out slowly,there is this thing that comes out together with it,i don't know what it is called.Anyway,that will be the thread.Interesting?

Hidden blessings

By Pauline Hamblin

Thank you God for the valleys,
That I sometimes find myself in.
A life that is always sunshine
And no rain would bringA world without flowers,
Or gardens to tend.
The rivers would all dry up.
The ocean's a dream.
A world without happiness,to me,
it would seem.

Life can't be all blessing -
There would be no need
To talk with God,
Or bow at His feet.
Heaven would be meaningless,
Angels would be without song.
Life on earth would be boring,
and the days here would be long.

Relationship at a young age

I'm writing this based on what i feel and what i have gone through...not that i am that old and wise..but i just realised.

I started having a relationship when i was in Form 6.Well,for the younger generation it is like...SO LATE...They have theirs when they were lower secondary or maybe primary.Even so,i felt that i was a little immature when it comes to handling THIS kind of situation.

What is happening to the world right now is THIS.Starting a relationship too young.And because of it,a lot of breakups and divorces happen.Generally it is because we are not made to go through it yet.

Think about it a second...

When we are babies,we are suppose to learn the basic things we have to do to survive.At that time,we didn't know how to fight back or say no.So,we followed obediently.

When we are kids and teenagers,we are suppose to learn more about the world,gain more knowledge through education and spending time with our family.Just because we have gained a little knowledge and know how to voice ourselves,we tend to fight back and try to do things our way.Why don't we just follow the flow of it?Why don't we just concentrate on one thing at a time?Why must we make things so difficult not only for our family but to ourselves as well?Cause it is NOT easy to cope with school and relationship unless there are NO PROBLEMS at all.

When we finally reach adulthood,then only we put what we have gained into use...work,relationship and family.And at this time,concentrate on them.

I think that is what God's plan was for us.But why do we want to fight the flow?Because we think that we can be greater than God?

Nursery

I have just started working in the nursery again.Why again?I worked there last year,went of to study then back to work while waiting to continue study in college.

By the way,the nursery i meant is nursery that takes care of kids,not plants.I don't really have green fingers so if i were to take care of the plants....don't think i will be hired again.

Taking care of kids is fun especially in a nursery.Since i am a part time so i just have to do reading with them indivudually.I actually learnt a lot,not new words of course,but how to handle them and make them listen to you.Not all the kids can be scolded and because of that,they can really test my patience.So,it is either i learn how to adapt or say no-no to the job.I am still around and working..i guess i have learnt the art of handling them =)

Besides that,kids are really so adorable.When there are so many of them,it is hard not to like at least one.Some are cute when they talk,some are cute for what they do and how they behave and some are cute because they just look cute.No matter how lazy i feel..sometimes...i just have to think of the kids and it will really motivate me to get out of bed and go to work.

Another thing...working in the nursery with kids also help you to overcome the fear of people throwing up.Every teacher will experience it whether they like it or not.The kid either is not feeling well or just have problems eating or suddenly cough right in front of you...and you end up having their lunch all over you.If it's a cough,then it is still bearable.But what about when they are not feeling well or just has problem eating...well...that is not something nice to experience and i tell you...once i enough to teach me when and how to avoid.

So,overall...working with kids is fun and it is something very useful cause you won't know when you need to use the knowledge....right?

Cheng beng

Yesterday was Cheng Beng Day.So,i was back in Lunas since Thursday to help out..supposedly..but then we arrived quite late..so didn't do much.

Friday morning at 6.30am..woke up and went for breakfast before going to the cemetery.Had our usual breakfast under the coconut trees.Cool right?Then it was back home to load everything into the car.There were fruits,kuih,paper money,paper clothings,joss stick,candle...etc.Some couldn't fit so had to be taken in another car.After everything was packed,off we went to the cemetery.The roads were bumpy and there was a huge crowd as it was the actual day (Some people go before while some after but it has to be within 10 days before or after the actual day)

We have to pray at 3 graves..my great grandfather,1st great grandmother and 3rd great grandmother...my 2nd great grandmother and 3rd uncle...my grandfather..At the graves,there are writing either names of the family members or about them.These are some photos of them.

Because it rained the night before and has been raining frequently,some of the graves were flooded.My great grandfather's grave and my grandfather's grave were a little dirty whereas my great grandmother's was flooded with water and mud.So,my uncle had to go back home and get a water pump to remove the water and mud.This is a photo of my parents and my uncle cleaning the grave.
Some were busy cleaning,others were busy preparing the stuff to pray.First thing was to cover the top of the grave with shredded colour papers.This can only be done by the boys or men.Girls and women are not allowed to step go to the top.Another thing is..because husband and wife are buried together,so,if the husband already passed away and the wife is still alive,then the husband's side is covered with colour paper whereas the wife's side is covered in red paper.These are a few photos..my uncle throwing the papers and the grave after it is covered.

Then,starts the headache..Distributing the fruits,kuih,paper money,candles,joss stick and not to be forgotten the 'Sa seh',direct translation three birth.This time we bought a roasted piglet,a roasted chicken and a roasted duck.It can be replaced with anything such as dried cuttlefish or slice of boiled meat,as long as there are three types.This is a photo of my grandmother 'supervising' and a few photos of the graves when they were set up.

After that,everyone is suppose to pay respect and ask the ancestors to enjoy the meal.This year,we did it a little differently.We didn't put much food at my great grandfather's and great grandmothers' grave,instead we invited them to have their meal at my grandfather's grave.Didn't manage to take more photos cause was very busy.Managed to get only one.This is my grand-aunty.

We had to wait for the ancestors to eat.While waiting,and since we were tired and hungry,we brought food and fruits to eat..and tea as well.Meal TOGETHER with the ancestors.It was also a time to take PHOTOS.

Then....MAT KOOL,MAT KOOL,KAWANKU...or the TING TING TING...the ICE-CREAM MAN..During a hot day,no matter how old you are,an ice-cream is the best to cool the heat,quench the thirst and refresh.So,these are some photos of EVERYONE enjoying their ice-cream.

After half and hour or so,it was time to burn the paper money and clothings which also marks the end of the cheng beng.

These are a few photos of the graves when everything was done.

After all that?Head back home,some prayers at home,clean our shoes from the mud,distribute the all the stuff from cheng beng among relatives...and have a nice bath.

That's how Cheng beng is celebrated in my family....

Pigs

Did you know that...pigs have brains that look like a smaller version of ours?

Did you know that...pigs are so smart that if they were to play golf,instead of getting the ball to the hole,they will get the hole to the ball?

Did you know that...pigs will have a tensed and nervous life if they are taken away from their parents too young?

Did you know that...pigs that ran away from the farm into the wild will gradually resemble the wild boar?

Did you know that...a piglet will suck on the same nipple on its mother no matter how you try to change it?

Did you know that...pigs are adaptable animals which enables them to be found in every continent on Earth except Antartica?

So...pigs are not only about the ham that you eat.
