First week of lectures

Today is Friday! Finally coming to the end of the first week.

It was okay for the first week.Orientation was a little waste of time and pressuring cos the management kept on mentioning 'passing rate','success','work hard' and 'platinum status'..Though it is stressful to hear all those,in a way it is kind of good for someone like me who lost my motivation last semester. It made me feel determined to pass my exams and to work hard in order for this semester to be my last one.

Besides orientation is the lectures. They were all smooth-going.I managed to find out where all the lectures were held and can quite understand what the lecturers were saying. That is something good cos my last semester i was always lost and trying to find my way out of the puzzle. This is where i find Sunway to be better. They acknowledge the fact that there are new students and therefore, don't always refer to the notes they previously gave or use terms which new students won't know. But what's not nice is that the lecturers have already asked us to start revising after each lecture.I know that it is THE WAY,but i am always so tired after lectures. My brain feels like it has absorbed SO MUCH and i should just sleep to 'save' what i learned.

So,that's a little about how my study life is currently.

Dance...stopped for the moment cos it is TOO EXPENSIVE to learn it here.So shall just wait till i have the time when i am back in AS to continue.

Sleep...i have been sleeping so EARLY these days.Really not like the AS me where 12am is still early.Here,10pm is already late. But it's good,at least no more looking like a panda (even though i love them).

The big city

Ah!
I am finally in KL.Sis and me have been thinking about coming here to study for quite some time and now we are really staying here.We didn't imagine it to be as difficult as in Penang.

Even though previously i was in UKM for 6months,it was still SO TERRIBLY HARD for me to adjust to life here. After gotten used to study life in Penang and most of the time, staying at home, the sudden change and the need to be independent is terrifying. What more,i have to also 'look after' my sister.Luckily,i have friends here whom i can call and ask for help.I do hope that i will be able to adapt to this life quickly so that before i know it,it is already time to go home and i can re-decide where i want to be next.

As for my sis,it is her first time being so far away from home and having to be independent.Definitely,it is tough on her but i hope that she will be able to overcome it and try to look on the brighter side. There is nothing we can do about it until we are done with the 4months here.

My goal: Concentrate on class so that time will pass faster and then it is time to pack up and GO HOME! (I am 100% going to reconsider whether to work in KL.Maybe Penang is far enough for someone like me who loves my home so much)

Holidays

Sorry for the 'disappearance' after my exams.

Exam was...a little tougher than previously for me this time.I felt that there were many things that i didn't know how to do which is not a good s
ign.Anyhow,i already tried my best.So whatever the results are i will just have to accept it but i do wish to pass so that i can finish my studies by next semester.

After exams (exam ended on Wednesday),there were so MANY things to do.

Thursday - i met up with my STAR friends. It has be
en awhile since i met them.We 'sembang' for quite a long time, listening to each other's stories.

Friday until Monday - The whole family and Ning went down to KL to fetch my brother back from college. My family went back earlier while Ning and i stayed on a few days more to hang out with friends. This time i met up with a few
of my Convent friends whom i have not met for awhile. It was great fun catching up with them especially now that they are in their working life.We had a little 'adventure' on our way back and spent almost the WHOLE JOURNEY talking. We only stopped talking for the last few minutes when both of us fell asleep.Upon reaching, brother made plans to go out for dinner and movies. So,after taking a quick bath,i was out and was only back around 11pm.Luckily i managed to get a SHORT (less than 15minutes) nap while in the bus.

Tuesday - Ning and i had dinner with one of my C
onvent school teacher.Dinner was nice and we had fun except for the part that i had to rush back cos that night,my family wanted to go back to grandma's house. So,we left around 10pm and reached almost midnight.

Wednesday - In grandma's house for prayers. After pr
ayers,we had home-cooked lunch and then was out for makan-makan.We went for the very popular cendol, followed by laksa and then a little of Indian kuih.We had dinner before heading back home with my relative from SIngapore.

Thursday and Friday - Spent my time with relative, playing and talking and entertaining and going out.We also had home-made steamboat which
was very filling.Just two rounds and we surrendered. Was too full to even attempt on eating the noodles which is the best part.

Saturday and Sunday - Penang penang!!Spent Chris
tmas at relative's house. It was sort of a family gathering.Everyone brought a little something and in the end we had, hokkien mee for lunch, yam cake, potatoes and mango pulut for tea and 11 dishes for dinner.

It was my first time playing Uno-Stacko and i didn't know it will be that much fun and exciting. While we,the 'kids' were busy with the colo
urful stack, the adults were also busy enjoying themselves with their game, the mahjong.

At night, after the very delicious dinner and when some of my relatives have gone back,we all went down and relaxed by the pool.It was windy and cold...many little stars twinkling in the dark sky...the shy moon shining brightly behind a building...lights decorating the palm trees and other plants by the pool...sitting on the chairs,10 of us (grandaunt and granduncle, aunts and uncles, parents, sis and me) were chit chatting and laughing at stories which were shared.Time passed so quickly and before we knew it,it was already midnight and time to call it a day.

The next day,it was all about SHOPPING.A few of us went but only sis and me bought a LOT of clothes though it was quite crowded and we had to queue to enter the fitting room. With a little strategy,we managed to save time on lining up =P

Monday - My time to enjoy at home.Though i was at home,it was still a busy time.It was more shopping for CNY clothes.Besides that, there is the clearing and cleaning up of my stuff. The flood made me realise that i have a lot of rubbish stored so i had to spend a day to sort them out and throw away things that i no longer need. Then,it was time to also start packing my things for KL.I will be going there to study in 2days time.It is SO FAST right? It feels as though it was just yesterday when i finished my exams.

So...this is what i have been up to for the last two weeks. How time really flies when i am busy enjoying myself.I wish that it will last (though i know it is impossible).Anyway, will enjoy my last few days before i am back to studying.Hope that KL will be good to me and won't give me much problems.

Time of the year

Exam season is here AGAIN.I have gone through it four times, this is going to be my fifth.Hopefully there will only be six times.

After four times of taking exam for ACCA,it is actually taking its toll on me.I no longer feel that nervous about it though the stress is still there.Getting used to it maybe good in a way,but it is also bad as this means i am not as motivated to study as before.Don't get me wrong,i still find ACCA tough and killing, just that i am not that bothered about it anymore.

Last semester,i was quite hardworking, started my revision 3 months before my exam. This semester,i started 2 months before and that also studying halfheartedly. Some days,i would procrastinate until late at night before i start opening the book. That was what happened yesterday (imagine..around 2 weeks before exam and i am still like that).I had to stay up until 4am to finish what i planned for the day.Today would have gone the same way too but i had someone to nag at me for sleeping 'SO EARLY' and also the headache from staying up late made me determined to finish my chapters for today before midnight. That's how i can be here to blog when usually i would be feeling so guilty about not finishing my studies and trying to do it when my eyelids are feeling so heavy.

Seeing the rate i am studying and the concentration level that i actually have when i study is really making me doubt that i will pass my exams this sitting.I really have ZERO confidence and wish that there is a way for me to not take the exams without wasting the fees that have been paid.

Why oh why do i need to study for exams?I can't wait for the time when i am really DONE with my study life...no more exams and no more guilty feeling for not studying.

Invisalign

As usual,i am so lazy to study.Getting so bored of it even though i am still no where near prepared and ready for my exam.Online and read blogs and came upon this..

http://xiaxue.blogspot.com/2010/11/invisalign-clear-choice.html

Mummy has been thinking of sending my siblings and me to get our teeth straightened using the conventional BRACES.I was not that eager cos firstly,my top teeth are quite straight, only the bottom..but when i smile, the bottom teeth can't be seen.So i was thinking whether is it worth for me to get it especially endure all the pain and having the metal braces stuck with me for a year or two.

Then,i came upon Invisalign just now and i am so excited about it.The problem is that it supposedly costs more and also only available in KL (i think). But if i do go KL,then it won't be a problem, right?

What i like about this is that,it is invisible unlike the metal braces.Secondly,it takes a shorter period to straighten the teeth.I don't know why but yes. That means i can have nice, straight teeth quicker.Thirdly,it can be removed when i don't feel like wearing them.I don't have to have it whenever i take photos (that's super good, right?).

The downside is that it has to be removed when eating and also when brushing teeth. That part is a little troublesome. Also,it is still painful. That part doesn't change.BUT BUT BUT...a little pain and a little trouble for a shorter period of time with the option of choosing not to have it when i don't feel like wearing it..it is OKAY right?

Addition to my flood post

I was being distracted while blogging and didn't realise i missed out on certain things.

Since Thursday,my family and i had been traveling up and down from Lunas. For the first time,it didn't feel like a LONG journey, seems pretty normal to drive an hour. When we left on Thursday, water was just sipping through the front door and on Friday, whole house was covered with almost 4inches of water.Nothing much could be done during that visit. We just lifted a few more things especially my piano and cleared the refrigerator cos didn't want it to stink since the electricity is already gone. Some of the food stuff that was still frozen,we took back to Lunas and had an 8 course dinner that night.

Saturday, water receded and we could start cleaning.Sis was not feeling well that day,so she stayed back in Lunas to rest while mum was having really bad back ache and couldn't help out that much.Luckily my brother came back,so it was him,my dad and me doing all the major cleaning. After cleaning our place,we went to help out at friend's house. All those was done with only breakfast and no lunch. So,you can imagine how HUNGRY we were when it came to dinner. We stopped at Bertam, ordered 5 dishes and finished every single thing. Before the food came,we were busy talking.Once the first plate was placed on the table,no more talking, just concentrate on eating and filling our stomach.Dad said he didn't feel full after eating and that we should have ordered another dish.

Sunday morning, parents sent my brother to the Penang airport. It was after lunch that we went back to AS.Another round of cleaning the house but this time without my brother.Luckily it was just minor cleaning, mopping the house and washing the porch. The same thing happened at dinner, cleared every single dish. That night was the first night since the flood that we slept at home. The house still had that stink but nothing beats sleeping on my own bed.

Since Sunday,it has been mopping the house everyday, vacuuming the insects, arranging things back into their places and trying to study.Exam is in a month's time and this is suppose to be my CRUCIAL time but...distractions.I have a feeling that i will fail my exam this time cos i REALLY don't know how to do the questions till now. That's bad right?

There is a news that there will be a second flood. If it does happen,i am surely going to defer my exams. No way i can prepare for my exams with two floods happening when one is bad enough.

So,that's a little about what i experienced during the flood.Got to start studying now..Hopefully i can concentrate and stay focused.

Water water EVERYWHERE

This is the 3rd time AS has been hit by flood and each time,it has gotten worst. The first was in 1988 and then 2005.I wasn't in AS to experience the flood in 1988.

But i did in year 2005.I remembered monitoring the water level in the drain with family and friends. Then,we would cycle or walk around the taman to check on people's houses. At night, when the electricity was gone,we stayed upstairs for the first night and the second night at a friend's place. After the flood was gone, because my house wasn't affected,we went to people's house to clean. It was a nice feeling to be able to help those who needed it.

Five years after that, year 2010,flood hit AS again. This time,it is worse than in year 2005.We didn't expect the water to enter the house but it did. When i woke up in the morning,my whole garden was covered with brown water. That really panicked me cos everything was still on the ground, nothing was raised. My dogs were walking nonstop in the water and half wet while my tortoise could not be seen anywhere. In a few hours,we lifted everything to higher places, brought my dogs to another place and left home to Lunas. It was nonstop traveling to and fro everyday since Thursday to check on the condition of the house and also my dogs.

This flood has taught me a few things. It is to stay calm and focused when everything is going out of control.Scan the area and see what needs to be done,do it systematically and don't panic.Saying 'I don't know' during times like this won't help.It is better to move and get things done, then to stare at things and cry.Things won't be done and also time is just being wasted.Don't keep expecting people to help you.Inform others that you need help and then get to the things yourself instead of waiting.Your friends will eventually come when they are done with theirs and by then, you would have done some of the things too.

Only yesterday i could finally online and post up photos to my Facebook and also blog about the flood. Now that everything is returning back to quite normal,i can continue focusing on preparing for my exams.I didn't study AT ALL since Thursday so i am now very,VERY OUT OF TIME.I have to re-plan my schedule and see how to fit everything that i am suppose to do into less amount of time.Got to get study now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
MUMMY

Thought it through

It is better that i concentrate on my exams for now. There are SO MANY thing that i am still uncertain and do not know. Why waste my time on something that is irrelevant and out of my control?

I should appreciate what i have right now and not compare it with what i had before. Not everything will be the same, but that doesn't mean that it is not good, right?

I have 33 more days before my exams.I don't want to either suffer the next semester or prolong my studies anymore.
Therefore, got to buckle up,switch the engine from the current relax mode to the 'crazy, speed up,stressful,no fun, torture, panic' mode....and GO!!

I miss

It is funny how we are always not content with what we have.
We always either want something new and better,
Or want what we used to have.
Why can't we be happy with whatever it is now?
Why do we have to think so much?

Some things that aren't meant to be ours,
we should let it go.

How time flies

It was like yesterday when i was still young, running around in my grandparent's home, waiting for my cousins to arrive and play..and now,one of my cousins who is from the same 'group' as i am has gotten married. My cousins are divided into three groups...the 30s',the 20' and those younger than 20s' (currently). This cousin who got married is the eldest in the 20s' group.
